An absolute first in the Netherlands!!
The very first edition of Bridginʼ the Gap, the biggest hip-hop festival in the Netherlands, will take place on May 28th 2011 in Ahoy Rotterdam. Bridginʼ the Gap is a large-scale qualitative hip-hop festival. With this festival, Bridginʼ the Gap attracts a worldwide audience to Rotterdam.

Bridginʼ the Gap will have not only well-known international performers, but new Dutch talent will be giving a chance to perform as well. Visitors attending Bridginʼ the Gap will be treated to authentic hiphop acts, artists who really formed this style of music, but also different variations that developed over time. From old-school to new-school and from hard-core to soul and jazz, all the way to the newest artists who are trying to kick their music careers off.

Hip-hop offers a tremendous amount of creativity. Not only is there room for different sounds but also other aspects of art find their creativity and inspiration here. Graffiti, emCeeing, turntablism, breakdance, and photography: almost all form of arts represents themselves here. Hip-hop is THE most popular form of music that is played and practiced; it exceeds all boundaries and connects people from all over the world.

Because of all the reasons above, weʼve chosen a name for this festival that shows how hip-hop is able to connect creative disciplines and people with different cultural backgrounds with each other: Bridginʼ the Gap!

Artists that are definitely performing at Bridginʼ the Gap are: Wu-Tang Clan members Ghostface Killah, Raekwon, U-God, Street Life, DJ Mathematics, Cilvaringz and for the first time in Europe La the Darkman! Then, Masta Ace, Sean Price, Smif N Wessun, Slum Village and Dead Prez. From the Netherlands Pete Philly, La Melodia, Turk & FS Green, Jiggy Dje, Cartes & Kleine Jay, Hef, Fresku , DJ DNS and GMB (Gerry Mendes). This is part of the line-up of Bridginʼ the Gap. The line-up keeps growing.

To stimulate and support new Dutch talent, they are given the chance to perform live during the Bridginʼ the Gap festival. The MC Contest is organized together with media partner 538Juize and the DJ contest is organized together with media partner Freshcotton.
